A guy with dreadlocks down to his waist tied my hair into pigtails and a lovely comedian Celia Pacquola (go to her Comedy Festival show) auctioned them off. I got $200 for the curl in the middle of my forehead!
It was a fantastic event and Leader Newspapers (my employers) videoed it, so anyone out there in cyberland wanting to see the full reinactment will soon be able to at www.leadernews.com.au
I’d like to thank all my sponsors and the people who gave me emotional support (ie. stopped me chickening out).
It doesn’t look too bad, either…kind of growing on me

Ewan had dreadlocks down to his waist and is a very cool looking dude. He’s agreed to do my shave - can’t pass up a pic opportunity like that!

So I’m having a public shave at the Peacock Hotel next Friday at 2pm. Please come along dear nookers and lend me your support - and money for the Leuakaemia Foundation.

Btw does anyone know if Felicity Huffman aka as Lynette on Desperate Housewives had her head shaved for her character’s cancer ordeal? I’ve searched the net but there’s different positions on this all over the shop.

I think it’s a great storyline and (although she can be a tad self-centred, seems to be a prerequisite on Wisteria Lane) Lynette’s one of my favourite characters.

So, there’s a new faction in the office, telling me “don’t do it!'’
My hair is looking pretty good at the moment, I must admit. It’s that thing where you’re about to go to the hairdressers for a radical change and suddenly you have a good hair day. Only magnified to the power of 10.

I don’t know if any of you watched Desperate Housewives last night but there’s a storyline about a woman with cancer who turns her hubby on by wearing different coloured wigs.
Hmm, not sure about this…I did once wear a black bobbed wig on my 21st birthday - it was a hippy party - many, many moons ago.
Looked ok. I’ll give it some thought.

I don’t consider myself vain. But I’ve got this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that I think may have something to do with ego. Or fear.

It’s about three weeks now since I decided to go in the World’s Greatest Shave.

Recently, I interviewed two amazing sisters Camille and Marcia Baker.

Camille had been diagnosed with the rare chronic lymphatic leukemia in 2002.

In a bid to save her life, Marcia was injected with special medicine to create bone-marrow stem cells which were then removed from her body and injected into her sister.

The operation was a success and Camille is now healthier than she’s ever been – she even has a new blood type, thanks to her sister.

The strength and optimism of the Baker sisters flawed me.

And the thing about having leukaemia, and many other forms of cancer or cancer treatment, is you don’t have a choice about losing your hair.

It falls out in clumps.

So, I figure, if I can choose to have my head shaved and raise money to help people like the Bakers – well, why not?
